'Barbieshop Singers' at Southport's big Christmas switch on, with stars and acts performing on a stage in centre of Lord Street which was closed to traffic for the event. Festivities in the resort are this year being organised by the newly formed Business Improvement District Team.
The newly-formed Southport Business Improvement District is organising the festive event, which takes place on a Saturday rather than Sunday, when previous switch ons took place. The BID has made a significant investment in new festive LED lights around trees along Lord Street. When the switch on takes place at , it will turn Lord Street into "a boulevard of light" with half a million lights creating a sparkling way to officially start this year's Christmas shopping season in Barbie Shop are a Liverpool-based female a’cappella trio who specialise in delivering close-knit vocal harmonies delivered with cute choreography, sweet smiles and appealing attire. They perform a variety of styles; from The Andrews Sisters to The Ronettes, The Undertones to Duke Ellington, The Cure to Radiohead. Most of the songs are arranged by the girls themselves, contributing to their unique style and sound.
