While all hospital buildings should befireproof for the safety of the helplesspatients, it is sometimes possible to givethe maximum amount of convenience ata minimum cost by making this section ofthe institution non-fireproof. This was(lone in the nurses residence of the Hospital TFig. 280) at Jackson-ville. This was built at a very low to its simple lines, being plannedon a nine-foot unit system, so that allpartitions and piping came in verticals,one above the other. All the necessaryrooms were provided for the comfortand pleasure of the nurses, including abroad roof balcony for sleeping. The outer finish of this building is the sameas the others of the group, which arefireproof. The plans for the nurses residence ofthe Leonard Morse Hospital and of theAugusta (Me.)
