Restoration has just been given the go ahead by Christchurch Borough Council together with English Heritage to restore Highcliffe Castle on the outskirts of Christchurch . Dorset . The restoration of the ornate 1830 Castle built on the site of the original castle dating from 1700 is starting immediately in a £400,000 scheme to cover it with scaffolding and a temporary roof before plans to turn it into a museum and restaurant go ahead. 16 November 1990 Pictue by Roger Bamber
