Any good soil will produce potatoes. When grown upon a good sandy loam, however, their quality is usually much better than that of those produced upon heavy soils. Make furrows of good depth, three feet apart; scatter a liberal dressing of fertilizer along the drill, and upon this set the seed-potatoes, about eight or ten inches apart.
