Capture of Manuel de Godoy, Duke of Alcudia, Spanish statesman, Madrid, 1808. De Godoy was Prime Minister of Spain from 1792-1798 and again from 1801-1808. He was forced into exile in France in 1808 together with King Charles IV after the court planned to flee when news that Napoleon planned to invade parts of Spain came to light. He is shown here being captured by a Spanish Life Guard.
