Hospitalman Third Class Thomas A. Mullen from Candia, II. H., is being presented with the Silver Star Medal by Colonel H. A. Hayes, Jr., commanding officer of the 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. Mullen received the honor for his courageous rescue of several Marines trapped in a burning amphibious vehicle.
