I Wish I Was in Dixie's Land
Sheet music cover for "I Wish I Was in Dixie's Land," a popular minstrel song written by a Northerer, Daniel Emmett, about the South, and first published in 1859. The song was performed in blackface and grew very popular, later becoming the unofficial anthem of the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War. It helped to bring in recruits.
