Tennyson Power Station, April 1965. The land for Tennyson Power Station was acquired in 1947 and construction began in 1949. It opened in 1953 and closed in 1986, partly due to asbestos in the buildings. It is now the site of the Queensland Tennis Centre and Tennyson Reach apartment complex.
