Whatstories they might tell us. Among the old papers that I have seen are some of theVoorhis family that were found among the papers of the lateJudge Henry H. Voorhis, of which family the Rev. John of this Society is a member. These papers are notnumerous. There must be or must have been many othersin the possession of this family. But among them are someof interest. Among others I find a military commission is-sued to Henry N. Voorhis, as Sergeant, on May 21, Joseph Bloomfield, Governor, Captain-General and. Commander In Chief of all the Militia and other militaryforces In the state of New Jersey. I also find a deed byCornelius Haring, Esq., agent for forfeited estates in thiscounty, to Henry T. Brinkerhoff of nine acres of land at Tea-neck, being the lands of Albert Zabriskie forfeited for joiningthfe army of the King of Great Britain. I also find a bill ofsale April 16, 1805, by Paulus Powelson to Henry Brinkerhoffof a negro wench for $100, duly warranted, of course, as wasusual. In one of the old deeds of the Edsall title at EnglishNeighborhood, which I have seen, the southerly line of thepremises described is given as a certain distance south ofIndian Castle.
