Tibetan monks crossing the bridge spanning the Yalong River in Ganzi, eastern Tibet. Home to a large and influential monastery, Gansi was little more than a Tibetan hamlet ten years ago; a push from the central government to develop the hinterland has witnessed an explosion in the size and population of Ganzi - mass resettlement of nomads into urban centres and tax incentives for Han Chinese to go and develop businesses there.
