Itwas at that time General Gordon thought he had been killed, and whilemeditating upon his death, he fancied that if the mind was so clear itmight enable him to move the dead foot. Anyhow, he concluded to try the movement of the foot, he realized that he could move his body,and was not dead. Murfree was made lieutenant in Lorings division,and was at Franklin, Nashville and at Bentonville, Xorth Carolina.
