Stone cells on Beurre Hardy pears


Stony pit virus, for which there is no cure, are cells that develop slowly n the flesh of pears (not apples) causing deformity. These clusters of cells turn extremely hard and pitted or dimpled, and are difficult, if not impossible, to cut with a knife.
