During this time he was fourterms in the lower house of the Kansaslegislature, twice as speaker, and oneterm as state senator. In these offices hewas an active and successful promoter oflocal and general interests. He servedover two terms as postmaster at Emporiaand resigned. He has held various otherpositions and has edited other papers indifferent parts of the state.
