Small, whom he served mostfaithfully, gaining merited promotions, and after acontinuous service of twenty years in this relation hemoved with his wife and family to Carlisle, Pa., wherehe engaged in the grain business until 1862, when ill-health compelled him to relinquish it. After his returnto York, and partial restoration of his health, he waselected Cashier of the First National Bank, and contin-ued so for five years, when failing health compelled himto seek the dry climate of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
