Franklin Park, Illinois, USA. A standard freight car knuckle coupler and air brake hose that appears on freight car used on North America.

A standard freight car knuckle coupler and air brake hose that appears on virtually every freight car used on North American railroads. However, an end of train device is also attached to the tail end of this car at the rear of a freight train. The end of train device (ETD), sometimes referred to as an EOT or flashing rear-end device (FRED) in lieu of a caboose. The pictured unit provides a brake pipe pressure gauge. The devices originated in North America. Air hoses are attached to other cars along with the coupler to extend the air brake system from the locomotive/s leading or switching cars to extend throughout all cars being moved.
