Rovinj is a city situated on the western coast of the Istrian Pennisula in Croatia. Although originally built on an island near the coast, in 1763 it became connected to the mainland by filling in the channel. With its picturesque surroundings and rich history dating back to Byzantine Empire, Rovinj remains one of the most visited Croatian city and an important tourist resort.
