The Moon from space. Annotated artwork of the surface of the moon based on data obtained by unmanned US space probes. The Ptolemaeus crater can be seen at far left. At top centre is the dark Mare Tranquillitatis (Sea of Tranquillity), which became famous by the first manned lunar landing. In the centre of the picture, the Theophilus impact crater separates the Mare Tranquillitatis and the Mare Nectaris (Sea of Nectar, dark, lower right). Two Apollo landing places are marked - Apollo 11 and Apollo 16.
