Christmas Day Swim at Crooklets Beach, Bude, Cornwall.
The traditional Christmas Day morning Swim at Crooklets Beach, Bude, Cornwall, UK, is attended by between 200 and 300 people each year. The event is held by the Bude Life Saving Club. The swimmers make a dash for the sea at a given signal (11 am). Most rush in and rush out again, but a few spend a little longer in the bitterly cold water. Afterwards they are served with hot chocolate, mulled wine and sausage rolls in the clubhouse. About 2000 people turn out to watch the annual event. Credit Robin Scagell/Galaxy
