View of the Dudh Koshi river valley, with Phakding village in the distance, along the Everest Base Camp trek, Nepal

The Dudh (Milk) Koshi River originates from the high-altitude areas of Mount Everest (8848 metres) and is the highest river in terms of elevation. It is believed to be the highest navigable whitewater but many parts are too dangerous and normally cannot be used for watersports. The trail start at Lukla and Phakding is often the main stopping point for trekkers on their way to Mount Everest and there a number of guesthouses located in the village.
