Design for a Baptismal Font, Giuseppe Barberi, Italian, 1746–1809, Pen and brown ink, brush and brown wash on lined off-white laid paper, Octagonal base, shaft with a cherub at the front. The bowl has below a leaf calix, above a frieze with festoons supported by bowknots. The shaft of the lid has the shape of an octangonal pedestal, each side having a circular pediment. In the front is a medallion with two figures, framed by two crossed branches. The oblique sides are decorated with a hanging garland. On top is a cross supported by cheubim.
