An assault was made at thispoint by a Confederate column, which was repulsed with great loss. Uponthe second the 73d occupied the same position upon the scene of the * William Moore was commissioned colonel January 27th, Charles C. Cresson was commissioned colonel May ist, of these officers was mustered with the above rank. 96.
