Model of Planck Space Observatory
Qualification model of the Planck space observatory, showing the payload module with its three circular radiators, the light baffle and focal plane assembly in the center. This image was taken during a test campaign in the thermal vacuum chamber at the Centre Spatial de Liege, Belgium. Planck was launched in 2009. Its objective is to survey the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB), the radiation left over from the Big Bang.
