Shuttle launch. Shuttle Endeavour seen from an aircraft climbing into the sky with its plume of smoke lit by the rising sun. The crew for this mission, STS-77, were: John H. Caspar, mission commander; Curtis L. Brown, pilot; Daniel W. Bursch, Mario Runco Jr., Andrew Thomas and Marc Garneau, all mission specialists. During this mission (19-28 May 1996), the crew performed a variety of tasks, including microgravity research in the Spacehab 4 module within the shuttle's cargo bay. They also deployed and retrieved the Spartan 207 satellite and made a rendezvous with the Passive Aerodynamically- Stabilised Magnetically-Damped Satellite (PAMS).
