One rural community, for example, with a sub-stantial settlement of Mexicans reports noschool or church opportunities and no Biblesin the homes although one of the Mexicanleaders in this community has made a definiteplea to representative Protestants for assist-ance in alleviating this condition of instances of need abound. It is the well-nigh universal testimony ofreligious workers that they are open to themessage of the gospel when properly One young man who recently was a captainunder Villa is now studying for the Christianministry. Many other recent arrivals havebeen won. In addition to a considerable number of localchurches there are approximately forty missionschools and neighborhood houses under theauspices of missionary agencies conducted forthe benefit of Mexicans who are resident inthe United States. Some of these are boarding schools, others areday schools. They include all sorts of instruc-tion from work in the elementary grades up toand including approved standard secondaryschool work. These schools are also furnishing an opportunityfor a Christian education to a considerable
