It is also known as “The city of Light” by Hindus. Varanasi is one of the seven Sacred Cities of Hinduism. It is famous for its ghats (steps along the river) which are populated year round with people who want to take a dip in the holy Ganges River. Thousands of Hindus come here to die in the hope of breaking out of the cycle of karma and rebirth. It has amazing capacity to attract travellers both Indians and foreigners. People come here to study Sanskrit and hindu culture. Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi is home to the Vishwanath Jyotirling Temple, which is one of the most sacred of Hindu Temples. Varanasi is Famous for its silk brocades, sarees and brass handicraft.
