Amalia Van Solms, daughter of John Albert, Count of Solms, born 1602, married 31st March 1625. With Prince Frederick Henry, she was one of the cleverest women of her time. They founded The Orange Room, today's Huis Ten Bosch where the triumphs of her husband were glorified (Paintings by Jordaens), and had, as a watchful guardian, a large share of the upbringing of her grandson, Prince William III. She died in 1675.
