A boy of twelve years when the family located in Shawano county,Mr. Gustman had already received some educational advantages in hisnative country, and continued here in the common schools, assisting inthe labors of the home farm. In 1898 he sold the farm and moved to thecity of Shawano. There up to the time of his election as county treasurer,he was identified with different enterprises. He first bought a dray linerunning it for several years. For four years he drove the United States. Karth,and the mother of four children, whose names are Paul, Fred, Marieand Carl; William, who is married and lives in the state of Gustman takes a prominent part in the St. Jacobi Lutheran churchat Shawano, and is an elder.
