Tuberculosis hospital and sanatorium construction; . was adopted because of certain peculiarities in thecontour of the land, which lies in the form of a horseshoe made by a flat with two promon-tories jutting out from it on the same level. Between the promontories is a ravine formingthe main axis of the block plan. The Administration Building is located on the flat, directlyat the head of the ravine at the north of all the patients quarters, which are arrangedon the two promontories. This plan worked out so well that one contour line runsthrough seventy-five per cent, of the buildings, adding greatly to ease of administra-tion, as a level path will connect them. Practically everything on the grounds can beseen from the administration building, as the other structures were arranged with that ideain view. Nearest the entrance to the west is the Reception Hospital, where all early cases willbe housed for observation on their arrival. To the left and front of this is the library. 25 Section I 35c Q <-2 ^ a z g M a 0 ^ ti ^S| V^ 0 < (D. =i Sen ^ C/D n > 10 H 0 w t> 03 W u c < ^ ?7 H < ?-I H H^ H H — ^ •/) •;^ H *v 1^ Xi < 0 H -^ / H n ^ H >^»^u ^i 2 ~- a CO K crt H r;:^ ^ h ^ ^ -J CIS Cfi < B z -v/ =s s a 0 j^ ca fH a ^ < crt ^ w !2: z y < 0 J^ a 3 Z o 0 f-t n 0) X O Pi fl -^ ^ 26 Site and Grouping
