Inthe afternoon we crossed these mounds and de-scended into a very maze of hillocks, amidst whichwe camped. Amongst these mounds we met acouple of Bedwin, the purpose of whose presencewas entirely obscure. Our guide exchanged theusual greetings with them, and then in a lowvoice began to talk of the miserable dog whichtrotted dejectedly behind his camel. Again hepointed to his almost empty bag of food, and atlast dismounted, fastened a rope to the creaturesneck, and handed it to the Bedwin.
