A marble head of Apollo, copy from the 19th century based on an ancient model, Portrait of the deity with long, curly hair falling in skeins onto his shoulder. The sculpture is of the so-called "Kassel Apollo" type, which is a 2nd-century Roman copy of a statue by Phidias. Nose and upper lip broken off in ancient times. Surface darkened due to climatic influence. Minimal dents. Square iron rod at the bottom of the neck where the head was once mounted on a base. Height 31 cm.
