Wat Kalayanamit was founded by a Chinese nobleman who donated land to build the temple. Inside the viharn is a huge Buddha named Phraputtatrirattananayok, 15 meters tall and 11 meters wide - so large that it nearly fills the interior of the hall. During Chinese New Years Wat Kalayanamit is crowded with Chinese and Thai-Chinese worshipers and visitors.
