The Rockpile outside the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, Calif., Aug. 9, 2018, showcases the various units that have reported to NTC for warfighter training since the site opened 29 years ago. Each unit paints their crest with their unit’s name to signify their completion of the tough, realistic 28-day training scenarios that NTC provides to prepare units for mobilization.
