When not in use absolutely no waste occurs, a quality whichdistinguishes these Accumulators from all other portable types. The Accumulators are adapted and specially constructed for thefollowing purposes :— 1. Galvanic Cautery. 2. Lighting of Instruments. 3. Galvanic Cautery and Lighting combined. When a practitioner has frequent occasion to use the storage batteryboth for Cautery and Lighting, it is advisable to have an accumulatorfor each purpose, especially is this the case for specialists. Accumulator for Cautery and Light—. The illustration shows thelatestform of medicalAccumu-lator, specially designed forportability, and utility forseveral purposes. It consistsof four cells, each in a separateebonite box, and the wholecontained in a polished teakouter case. These cells canbe joined together to work astwo large cells for the cautery(4 volts), or as four small cells,giving 8 volts, for lighting alamp. There is a separateregulating resistance for each,so that the required degree ofheat, or brightness of Light,can be accurately obtained.
