An iconostasis of artistic value made in 1897 is found in the Saint Nikolas church in Galaxidi, in Fokida region, Greece


The Church of St. Nikolaos in Galaxidi is the main church of the city, visible from all sides, from land and sea. Its construction started in1897 and finished in 1902, when the last vessel was also launched in Galaxidi. The order of the Temple is Byzantine. It is built in the place of an old church of Royal order. It has two belfries and dome. The icon screen of the temple separating the nave from the sanctuary is a masterpiece of woodcarving with embossed the Old and New Testament. According to Eva Vlami it is the creation of mastro-Nikolas, a famous artist from Epirus with religious education, that died in the Temple Anast. Skiadas (in his book “Galaxidi”, Athens 1986) reports that according to the research that Christos Makris and Giorgos Plataris the woodcraved icon screen of Saint Nikolaos is the work of a famous artist Anastasios Moshos from Metsovo. The icon screen is divided in 12 pieces, the six are on the right and six on the left of the Beautiful. It is of big religious and architectural interest
