Old signage for a lightning conductor manufacturers called Dixon & Corbitt and Newell & co ltd, on the side of a building in Kingston upon Thames

Old signage found in Kingston upon Thames. In 1887 R. S. Newall and Co merged with the adjoining firm of Dixon and Corbitt as Dixon Corbitt and R. S. Newall and Co. The two premises were then linked by a bridge across the River Team at their works in Gateshead. In the late 19th century & early 20th century they were best known for their Buffalo Binder Twine. By the time of WW2 the company reverted to using just the Dixon/Corbett name & in 1959 become part of British Ropes Ltd.
