A cup-hilted rapier, Spanish, middle of the 17th century. Double edged blade of flattened octagonal section with smith marks on both sides. The relief embossed, iron cup guard, has a rosette plate on the bottom and vine decorated grotesque masks on the sides. Spirally chiselled, slightly conical quillons with one loop guard. Original iron wire grip wrapping with a pommel chiselled in the shape of a pine cone. Cup and grip cover are somewhat loose.
