The restof the molding is straight ahead workwhich it is not necessary to describe indetail. Now For the Cores In the making of the vane cores, afterthe core is rammed up and part of thecore box taken away, great care must beexercised in packing sand in the boxback of the core in order to level it upso as to bed on the plate, as the core isof such a twisted shape and this exactshape must be preserved. This can bevery materially helped by building bricksin with the backing up sand so as tomake a good substantial bearing onwhich to roll the core, thus preventing. These cores must be very carefullyvented as the surface is great and almostentirely surrounded with molten metal, and the gas must come off quickly. Assembling the Cores After the cores are made, the nextstep is the assembling of them on a platefhe exact size of the bottom print, andincidentally the exact size of the ringwhich we have described as having beenrammed into the mold and fitting around better understood by looking at Fig. this stage the joints of the cores arefilled up, blacked, and put in the oventill thoroughly dry. Setting the Vane Cores When ready to set the vane cores thecrane slings are attached to the liftingplate and the enti
