Campaigners want Brighton and Hove Council to develop the derelict site of the former Black Rock swimming pool and lido near the marina. The site was demolished in the 1970s and is now home to graffiti covered boards. The council approved plans in November 2012 to create a temporary sand sculpture theme park at the site. An Art Deco Lido, with a saltwater pool, was built at Black Rock in 1936. It was closed in 1978 and demolished a year later.
