Taken from Lambton Quay this image shows the he New Zealand Parliament or Beehive on a sunny day, including the top of the war memorial with clear blue sky. The Beehive is New Zealand's seat of power, home to the prime ministers and cabinet offices, it sits at the heart of Wellingtons business district. Home to Labour and the currently ruling National Party (also Green and Maori Parties). The Beehive was built between 1969 and 1979. The original design was sketched out by Sir Basil Spence in a restaurant in 1964 whilst dinning with Sir Keith Holyoake; the final plans and construction were overseen by Gibson O'Conner. The older building to the right is the original Parliament building which house the debating chamber and ministers offices, this was built between 1924 and 1922, designed, by Government Architect John Campbell
