A single tier plain net machine, built by John Levers, around 1820. The application of the jacquard in 1834 to Leaver’s machine led to the founding of the modern industry. This was published in 1924 by The Federation of Lace and Embroidery Employers’ Associations, Nottingham, for the British Empire Exhibition.
