YIDA, SOUTH SUDAN, 18th November 2012: Yida refugee camp holds 64,000 refugees from the Nuba Mountains of South Kordofan and Blue Nile states of Sudan. The refugees have fled from continual aerial bombardment from Khartoum over the last 18 months. 11,000 of the refugees are children. Every item from cooking pots to tarpaulins has to be air-dropped into the remote camp. This food distribution organised by WFP takes place over 5 days each month. Every family is registered with a bar-coded ID card which is used to monitor food rations. This card also helps new arrivals to find their family or community. Photograph by Mike Goldwater
