The line will be used to stabilize the new Barrier Arresting System as it’s raised on a crane and lowered into place. The BAK-12 feeds a cable across the flight line and, in the case of an in-flight emergency, acts as a mechanical barrier that rapidly decelerates a landing aircraft.
