Street signs displaying the names of the main characters of "Gone with the Wind." Jonesboro, Georgia, USA

Margaret Mitchell’s “Gone with the Wind” contains many references to Georgia, the Clayton County, and Jonesboro, where Scarlett’s imaginary plantation home Tara is located. Clayton County and Jonesboro have been allowed to call themselves the "legendary land of Gone with the Wind" by the author's family and the state legislature.
