These are coiled incense, constantly burning, each surrounding a red note inscribed onto which are prayers in mostly in chinese Characters, but also some in English. Most common are for prosperity and happiness. These are hanging on the ceiling of Hong Kong's oldest Buddhist temple, called "Man Mo Temple"
