Whole-salers and manufacturers report that sales forthe first week in the new year compare veryfavorably with other years, and are greaterthan they have been for several months past. MONTPFAI —Quotations on hogs advancedMWIlIUmL. towards the latter part oflast week but the bigger offerings this weekhave resulted in quotations coming back towhere they were one week ago. Packersstate that lower quotations may be expectedon live hogs in the near future, and this willhave an effect on the whole pork market. Inthe meantime prices remain unchanged.
