Seminary Hall on the campus of Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma was built to replace the Cherokee National Female Seminary which burned in April of 1887. The original Seminary was the first institution of higher learning for women west of the Mississippi and showed the commitment of the Cherokee to education.
