Infected eczema. Image 2 of 4. Infected eczema on the face of a 4-month-old boy. This condition is an inflammation of the skin accompanied by itching and blisters. Secondary infection of the blisters can occur as a result of scratching or poor hygiene. Eczema does not always have a known cause. It can be treated with soothing ointments and corticosteroid drugs. For the patient with uninfected eczema, see M150/263. For the same patient 5 days after this image, see M150/265 and M150/266.
