Gibraltar - 22nd october 2014 - Queues formed outside the ticket box office at the Piazza in Gibraltar as from 11am as people waited to purchase tickets for the Albert Hammond Concert on the 7th November 2014. The concert which has been shrouded in mild controversy after some local media and social media outlets highlighted critcisms against the international singer/composer alleged comments over his birth place when he first entered the international music scene. Albert Hammond is a British singer, songwriter, and record producer based in the British Mediterranean territory of Gibraltar. Hammond was born in London, England, where his family had been evacuated to from Gibraltar during World War II. His family returned to Gibraltar shortly after his birth, where he grew up. n 2008, Albert was inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame and has also received the OBE (Order of the British Empire) from Queen Elizabeth II after a music career spanning over 5 decades in which he has written and sang all-time classics, including songs for Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Elton John, Joe Cocker, Diana Ross, Johnny Cash, Lang, Julio Iglesias and Josh Groban, to name just a few.
