Bright red Lampranthus

The vivid flowers of Lampranthus spectabilis, also known as the perennial mesembryanthemum or Livingstone daisy, are stunning growing along the top of this garden wall in Bude, Cornwall. Lampranthus are native to South Africa and Australia and can tolerate a little frost but away from the milder west country, they are best overwintered in a greenhouse or conservatory or at the base of a south-facing wall. They thrive outside in full sunshine during the summer months. A stunning sun-lover!
