Lovell radio telescope. Astronomers standing in the dish of the Lovell radio telescope. This large radio telescope dish is located at the Jodrell Bank Observatory in Cheshire, UK. It has a diameter of 76 metres. Formally known as the Mark IA, it was built in 1957 and was the first large-dish radio telescope in the world.
